Jennifer Walden graduated from the Medical Branch of the University of Texas, Galveston, as salutatorian of her class. She went on to study aesthetic surgery, where she successful completed her fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital.
For eight years she has practiced the art of plastic surgery with a primary focus on cosmetic surgery. Like any other specialized career, it is harder as a woman and she must prove her abilities on a regular basis. She states that her patients, mainly women, are more comfortable talking to her about the cosmetic “repairs” they are planning on doing to their bodies, than with a man.
Women plastic surgeons are not very common. There are 8,100 board-certified plastic surgeons in the U.S., and of those, only 851 of them are women.
She went into the field of cosmetic surgery mainly because of her desire to help women. Taking a lot of classes studying women and psychology, she saw that cosmetic surgery was a way to help women feel better about themselves and have a stronger sense of self-confidence.
Jennifer Walden has several accomplishments, besides her current career, she has been on ABC News, Fox News, VH1, E!, and Dr. 90201, featured there as expert commentator on cosmetic surgery. She was also listed as one of the 24 Best Beauty Surgeons in 2014, by Harper’s Bazaar. Besides the aforementioned television appearances, she has also authored several journal articles about cosmetic surgery, as well as being elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
